Gigs
  • Fridays and Saturdays, Hot Springs, 8-11 PM -- Brian Sink's Kitchen, Hot Springs, AR - Hear live jazz with The Real Thing ,a straight-ahead jazz trio, featuring Dan Sieckman on guitar, Byron Yancey on bass, and Jay Payette on drum. The group is playing every Friday (except the first Friday of each month) and every Saturday at Sink's Kitchen, 801 Central, third floor (Spencer's Corner complex), (501) 321-1747.

  • First Friday of month, Hot Springs, 8-11 PM -- Brian Sink's Kitchen, Hot Springs, AR - On Gallery Walk Fridays, the group Mosaic plays jazz at Sinks Kitchen, featuring Israel Perry on guitar, Joe Vick on bass, and John Glover on congas and percussion.

  • Wednesdays, Fayetteville, 7:30 - 10:30 -- Arsaga's Coffee House - Open Jazz Jam happens every Wednesday night At Arsaga's Coffee house on Township and Greg (7:30 to 10:30). Features different jazz talent every week. Rhythm Section is Ryan Fourt and Chris Strom You can hear the horns of Dave Embree, Nathan McLeod, Michael Allen and others. Also the vocals of Rhoda Deon. Clare Starr, Jack Martin, Al Gibson, and Larry Cangellosi have been known to make appearances as well.

  • Thursdays, Texarkana, 6-9pm, Fridays and Saturdays 9pm -- Jazz With Tonk Edwards, guitarist with Barbara Edwards on bass, Lake Country Restaurant, 217 Walnut St, Texarkana, AR

  • Mondays, Fayetteville, 7-9pm -- The Ryan Fourt/Jan Barrios duo will be appearing each Monday at Faybles Coffee Shop from 7:00 to 9:00. Faybles is located behind the Ozark Brew Pub off of Dickson St. on West Ave.

  • Every Thursday, Fayetteville -- The Fayetteville Jazz Mafia - hear Latin jazz to New Orleans Funk, at the Gypsy in Fayetteville. Jack Martin - Piano, Jon Barrios- Bass & Richard Goodrum - Drums. Call 479-502-4683 Also check out Jon's web site at jonbarrios.com

  • Saturday, Fayetteville, June 15, 2002 -- Barrios 5 at the GRUBS, Fayetteville, Arkansas, ...Jim Jernigan on tenor, Jack Martin on keys, Richard Goodrum on drums, Sidney C. Simons on the congas and Jon Barrios acoustic bass.

  • Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, Texarkana -- Jazz guitarist Tonk Edwards and his wife Barbara Edwards will perform at Fuad' s Lake Country Restaurant, located just off State Line Avenue in Texarkana, Arkansas, on the entrance street to Super Wal-Mart. Some nights they're joined by Jerry Atkins. Call ahead at (870) 773-1550.

  • First and Third Wednesday nights, Texarkana -- The Texarkana Jazz Orchestra plays every first and third Wednesday nights at Fat Jack's seafood restaurant on State Line Ave, Texarkana, Arkansas. There is no admission charge.

Societies

  • Second Sunday of the month, 4-7pm -- Jammin' with Jazz. Lake Hamilton Resort, Hot Springs. No cover. Call (501) 767-3442 for more information.

  • Every 3rd Sunday of the month, 2-5pm -- Pine Bluff Jazz Club. Call (501) 879-2059 for more information.

  • Sundays (to be announced) - The Jazz Club of Arkansas meets in the Recital Hall of Capitol Keyboard, 13401 Chenal Parkway Little Rock (501) 228-9999. This is an open Jam Session which emphasis on music of the swing era. Everyone is welcome to attend. Admission is free. For more information, call Capitol Keyboard at (501)228-9999.

  • Information and pictures needed for historical review of the 9th street dance hall, the Dreamland Ballroom. This was a place where lots of big names once performed - Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, the Inkspots, and more. What history!
