July 2002
- Friday, July 26, 2002 -- McVinney / Atkins SWING 42 TRIO at the Coffee Beanery, 17200 Chenal Parkway, 8:00PM to 11:00PM. Includes
Byron Atkins: Guitar; Barry McVinney: Flute, Saxophone;
With Special Guest Chris Michaels on Bass.
This trio provides sophisticated music for any occasion. Their presentation
is a varied one: Brazilian bossa novas and sambas, gentle waltzes, gypsy
jazz, jazz standards and romantic ballads, all performed in their own
unique style.
The Coffee Beanery is on 17200 Chenal Parkway, west, about .5 miles past the
Acura dealership and Kroger on the right. It's next to Chi's Chinese takeout
and Domino Pizza in the Centre Shopping Center.

Copeland's Restaurant Sunday Jazz Brunch from 11:00 to 1:00
with Claudia Burson (Piano), Jim Jernigan(Sax), and Ryan Fourt (Bass).
Copelands is located in the new Rogers Town Center off I-540 (Exit 85

- Summer 2002, Fayetteville -- The KUAF Summer Jazz Concert Series starting June 28, offers five concerts scheduled which take place on
Friday evenings at 8 PM at the U of A Stella Boyle Smith Fine Arts
Concert Hall on the Fayetteville campus.
All guest artists will appear with the House Rhythm Section: Claudia
Burson-piano, Jim Greeson-bass and Darren Novotny-drums.
Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 for current NAJS members, and $5 for
students.
The series is
sponsored by the North Arkansas Jazz Society and the University of Arkansas
Music Department. Tickets are available at the door and
can also be purchased in advance at Uncle Sam's Safari Outfitters in

- Weekend September 13-15, 2002 -- Eureka Springs Jazz Festival
2002 Eureka Springs Jazz Festival
Location: Various locations in and around Eureka Springs
Thursday, September 12, CLAUDIA BURSON QUARTET with Al Gibson, Ryan Fourt,
and Richard Goodrum at the Auditorium. Donations at the door to benefit
Starving Artists Fund.
Noon on Friday and again on Saturday, "Jazz Man" Blind Boy White will spread
the word to start the fun with his trombone from the back of a Eureka Springs
trolley, as he has done for the past 15 years, inviting one and all to
celebrate the Eureka Springs Jazz Festival.
Friday night, September 13, 2002, the enormously gifted jazz violinist REGINA
CARTER will perform with her Quintet at the Auditorium. Regina Carterβs
career has been a veritable crescendo of success that shows no sign of
letting up. She performs with relentless purpose and a seemingly endless
supply of energy. Over the past three years, Ms. Carter and her quintet have
brought audiences to their feet with exhilarating performances worldwide. $25

Friday evening from 10:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m "The Party After" featuring sax
artist Richard Bruton and his outstanding Quintet. with special guests Gus
Smith and the Arkansas Jazz Ensemble who kick off the bash at 8 p.m. $20.

Saturday, September 14, celebrated saxophonist JAMES CARTER and his band
Chasin' the Gypsy. Chasin' The Gypsy showcases the more romantic side of
James Carter, a man with a deep affection for pre-War swing music and the
confidence to make it his own. $20 Cover

- Monday October 21, 2002 -- Guitarist Mark Elf returns to the Afterthought on Monday, October 21,
