Jazz for Cats - Lee Tomboulian on Piano, returns to Little Rock

A Benefit for Feline Rescue and Rehome (FuRR)



July 20, 2009

LITTLE ROCK - Lee Tomboulian will perform at a Monday Jazz benefit for FuRR (Feline Rescue and Rehome), JAZZ FOR CATS, at the Afterthought Bar, 2721 Kavanaugh, in Little Rock, 501-663-1196.

Show time is Monday, July 20, 2009 at 8:00pm. Lee Tomboulian will be accompanied by Dave Rogers on drums, and Joe Vick on bass. Lee Tomboulian was a long time resident of Arkansas, and a popular jazz artist in the Little Rock area. There will be a drawing and silent auction. Admission will be $15.

Tomboulian presently resides in Appleton, Wisconsin, with his wife Betty, also an accomplished musician. After completing a degree program at University of North Texas in Denton, TX, he joined the faculty of Lawrence University where he teaches Jazz Piano and Improvisation, leads Jazz Singers, several small groups, and teaches String Theory, which includes a string quartet with two guitars. HeΥs performed with numerous notables, including Eddie Harris, Jimmy Witherspoon, Sheila Jordan, Airto, Jack DeJohnette, and Wayne Delano, as well as Tiny Tim and Steve Allen.

Feline Rescue and Rehome (FuRR) is a local Little Rock nonprofit group that offers low cost spay/neuter and other support for cats in the Little Rock area. FuRR has provided and/or arranged roughly 1000 low cost spays and neuters per year for several years, and has other programs of assistance for feral, stray, and domestic cats.

The Afterthought Bar is at Beechwood and Kavanaugh in Little Rock. Monday Jazz is a weekly program of the Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation, and regularly schedules outstanding jazz programs on Monday nights at the Afterthought.
