Saxophonist John Bush
Monday, March 1, 2004, 8 p.m., $5
On March 1, 2004 saxophonist John Bush will perform the Monday Jazz Project at the Afterthought series featuring Buck Powell on piano and Walter Henderson on trumpet, with Joe Vick on bass, and Dave Rogers at the drums, 8 p.m., $5 cover.
Bush, a Little Rock native, is an old school saxophonist and contemporary of saxophonist John Stubblefield also of Little Rock. Both are graduates of the Dunbar and Horace Mann music programs of the 1950's and 60's, along with tonight's trumpet player Walter Henderson. Bush elaborates "I am playing this date at the encouragement of some great Little Rock players, pianist Buck Powell and trumpet man Walter Henderson. If you enjoy radio DJ Bob Parlocha's show on KUAR 89.1, you will enjoy what we will play, real mainstream jazz".
