Trumpeter hones skills in Kansas City - Now back in Arkansas

Little Rock, Arkansas - - - Monday Jazz Project at the Afterthought

Trumpeter Rodney Block has returned to his native Arkansas with sharpened skills on the jazz trumpet. He plays the Monday Jazz at the Afterthought on Monday, July 8, 2002, 8 p.m., $5 cover. His ensemble for the evening includes Joe Vick on bass, Dan Seickman on guitar, and Dave Rogers at the drums.
Rodney Block
Block, a classically trained instrumentalist, brings his unique brand of traditional jazz, gospel, hip-hop, Bebop, Funk, and soul to the Little Rock metro area. Block a native Arkansan honed his skills by playing in some of Kansas City's premier venues (Grand Emporium, Plaza III, Blue Room, Liberty Hall). Rodney's ensembles have opened for such artist as Jonathan Butler, Claude "Fiddler" Williams, Wynton Marsalis, and Angela Hagenbaugh. Block has been featured in the Kansas City Star as well as the Lawrence Journal World.

July 15 - Gene Rush, piano With Joe Vick on bass and Dave Rogers on drums, 8PM, $5 cover.

July 22 - The Monday Jazz Band. 8 PM, $5 cover.

July 29 - Monday Jazz Project Jam Session with House Trio Jam players signup starting at 7:45 p.m. in Afterthought Foyer, 8 p.m. $3 cover, $1 Jammers.
