The 17th Annual Eureka Springs Jazz Festival held in Eureka Springs, Arkansas on September 14th and 15th, 2001 is expected to be one of the "best ever" according to Producer and co-founder Jack Holly.

The Landmark Historic Hotels of Eureka Springs are once again hosting the premier concerts and the Eureka Springs Visitors Bureau is underwriting acts performing in the City Auditorium.

This year, there will be "something for everyone", says Holly. Free concerts in Basin Park Band Shell on Friday and Saturday, premiere concerts and parties in the Basin Park Hotel Ballroom overlooking the city and concerts in the City Auditorium as well as various other venues around town.

At noon Friday Sept. 14th, the Festival officially opens as the Trolley Jazz Man Chris Thomson takes his traditional ride around the city with a trombone tribute to the founders of Jazz.

The Festival continues Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. when the Thom Chambers band takes the stage of the historic Basin Park Band Shell for a free concert.

Then at 8:30, legendary sax man Richard Bruton makes a rare appearance with his quintet in the Basin Park Hotel Ballroom overlooking the city. On the same bill is seven-string bass guitar artist John Jordan, presenting his special brand of sophisticated fusion with the John Jordan Trio. Tickets are $20.

Saturday afternoon, visitors will enjoy the music of the 20-piece SMSU Jazz Band's free concerts in the Basin Park Band shell.

Thom Chambers Band returns to the Ozark Room of the Basin Park Hotel for two concerts - at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Tickets are $12.50

Traditionally known as the "Party After", Saturday night Sept. 15th, the Eureka Springs Jazz Festival presents, "Sax to the Max". "If you like sax, then you'll love Sax to the Max", says Holly. The Grady Nichols Quintet and the Richard Bruton Quintet will give listeners a once-in-a- lifetime experience. The concert / party is in the Basin Park Hotel Ballroom from 8:30 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. and will be broadcast live on the internet at http://www.radioeureka.com. Tickets are $20.

The festivities also include: Jazz dinner concerts at the Bavarian Inn by the Greg Meise Band, The Mike Ning Trio will be at The Hylander Steak House and the new Copa Cabana Club is hosting The Majestics.

Other performances include Ramsey Lewis and Diane Schuur on Friday and Tuck and Patti on Saturday at the City Auditorium.
