Guitarist Dan Sieckman to play the Monday Jazz Project
Monday May 7, 2001 at the Afterthought, 2721 Kavanaugh, Little Rock
The Monday Jazz Project at the Afterthought features Guitarist Dan Sieckman,
May 7, 2001, 8 PM, $5 cover. Sieckman's trio includes Joe Vick on bass and
Dave Rogers at the drums.
Sieckman, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music from Arizona State
University in 1981. He played extensively in the Phoenix area during the
late seventies and early eighties in a variety of jazz and commercial
settings.
Dan has taken a somewhat different path than many guitarists,
primarily learning the jazz idiom from pianists including Dr. James Ferguson,
Dan Hearle, and Chuck Moronic while at Arizona State. He has also
participated in clinics with the likes of Joe Pass, Herb Ellis, and Barney
Kessel, to name a few.
Dan took a sabbatical from music for approximately 10
years, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems
and a career as a Senior Systems Engineer for a global data processing firm.
He has recently began playing again. While living in the Dallas area, he
played a few casuals with an ensemble called 'Boplicity', as well as doing
trio gigs. He has also played acoustic eclectic music locally and is looking
forward to playing and performing jazz in Arkansas.
