UA JAZZ ENSEMBLE CONCERT

The University of Arkansas Jazz Ensemble under the direction of James Greeson will perform its fall concert featuring a 24 piece big band. The 100th anniversary of the birth of the great American composer and band leader Duke Ellington will be honored by a performance of his "Concerto for Cootie" featuring trumpeter Joe Dearing, and our great local jazz pianist, Claudia Burson, will be featured playing a solo tribute to Duke Ellington. Other composers heard will include Sammy Nestico, Miles Davis, Les Hooper and Victor Lopez. The UA Jazz Sextet, a student group, will also perform.

The concert will take place at 7:30 pm in the University of Arkansas' Arkansas Union Theater on Monday, November 15. There is no admission charge and the concert is open to the public.
