Rhythm & Blues For The Webb Center

On Friday, February 26 the Hot Springs Jazz Society will host a Celebration and Benefit for the Webb Center in the ball room of the Park Hilton.

Tonya Leeks, one of Little Rocks premier R&B and jazz talents will perform from 7 till 10 p.m. Tonya, who plays saxophone, and flute is also an exquisite vocalist and songwriter. She will cover r&b favorites by Whitney Houston, Tony Braxton and Babyface, and jam out some jazz classics. During the 1997 and 98 Jazz Fest Fundraiser, Tonya brought crowds to their feet with her sizzling saxophone and bluesy vocals.

Tonya, who performs at The Afterthought and Christophers in Little Rock, will be backed by Carl Mouton on keyboards, trombone and vocals and Joel Clutcher on bass.

Proceeds raised during this celebration will be donated to the Webb Center, a unique and historic community center on Pleasant Street. The Webb Center offers nearly a dozen programs and activities including youth oriented outreach programs, which emphasis self-esteem and character development. The Webb Center Camp Program allows 40 children to attend various camps throughout out the United States each summer. Computer literacy classes targeted to lower-income members of the community are offered as well as TASC ( Together Against Senseless Crimes), which addresses the needs and concerns of residents whose children are victims or affected by criminal activities in the community.

Tickets for the Webb Center CelebrationÊ Benefit are $12 dollars, and $10 dollars for Jazz Society members.
